Sharon Horvath's composite works on paper indicate a non-hierarchical and rhizomic style of visual thinking. In wall installations, multiple, branching forms seem to grow up the walls like flat coral. These irregular, totem-like forms consist of magazine pictures from the 1960s to the present, referring to her memory and life span thus far. In the mix are vintage photos of interior and extraterrestrial spaces, pictures of plastic products, gemstones, vegetables and vehicles, cakes and knives, from stories and advertisements of the American dream. Each linked image is like a syllable in an unplanned sentence, bubbling up and visibly rhyming. Mineral, vegetable and culturally specific images grow into conglomerates and are transformed into "bodies new and strange.
