Drawing from their experience at Rafooghar, this is a sister blanket to a previous quilted work, blanket of solidarity. The work comes full circle in this detailed blanket, a woman protesting now reappears among many others on a landscape of mendings, care, reimaginations and joy. A place indestructible, built by many hands. It took the course of more than a year for it to reach completion but most of it was stitched while the artist was in Delhi spending time with Rafooghar. Learning and sharing from some of the very women whose actions and persistence mobilised a nation. The title borrows itself from a comrade whose radical imaginations have guided the artist’s practice greatly.
