Deceptive Allure, delves into the deceptive terminology employed by builders and developers in promoting their redevelopment projects. Inspired by the stark realities of urban redevelopment, Pratap Morey explores the unsettling act of displacing citizens from their familiar and amicable habitats, callously relocating them to entirely alien surroundings. Terms like "swanky," "luxurious," and "world-class amenities" often cloak the harsh implications of these actions. To visually convey the disquieting nature of redevelopment, the artist has created a void using engraved lines. As denizens of the city, we are perpetually surrounded by the rhetoric of "redevelopment," and the void symbolizes the tumultuous reality we inhabit. The use of shiny paper initially presents an attractive façade, mirroring the allure often associated with redevelopment projects. However, upon closer inspection, intricate drawings emerge, revealing the unpleasant truths that underlie the city's transformation.

Deceptive Allure invites viewers to contemplate the dichotomy between the glossy promises of urban renewal and the disruptive impact on communities. Through the juxtaposition of enticing aesthetics and intricate details, the artwork serves as a poignant commentary on the complexities of redevelopment and the challenges faced by those whose lives are upended by such projects.
