The series DYSFUNCTIONAL is an extension to the INFRASTRUCTURE drawings, both are ‘form’ studies of structures. Kulavoor uses watercolour and acrylic on paper to create unstable pillars, impossible staircases, and fragile extensions to existing architecture.
Inspired by Brutalist architecture and Memphis style design which was known to reject functionality, these forms were painted by the artist post lockdown, when he was in an entirely new context after months.
