Ronny's work in Jharia sheds light on the current issue of environmental degradation that has made life unliveable in some parts of the world. He focuses his lens on a coal mining town in Jharkhand, and captures images of the coal fire that has been burning in Jharia since the early 1900s, as well as unethical and unsustainable mining practices that continue in the area till today. The result of this is a set of entirely surreal images that are simultaneously morbid and immeasurably beautiful.

In this series, he continues to highlight his photographic engagement with the contemporary landscape, encouraging viewers to turn traditional landscape on it's head, moving from a large-scale, horizontal format, to a compressed vertical one, much like the screens through which we are now forced to consume our everyday.
