A repurposed tote bag sewn by a member of the artist’s family (unknown) using a textile designed by Bombay Dyeing (a company started and owned by the Wadia Group) that was printed with the calendar from the year 1990—the year after which Areez was born. The work functions as a sculptural, two-sided aide-memoiré filled with embroidered gestures that are suggestive of quotidian moments: wobbling bottles of wine, grocery items tossed inside a bag, and circled-in months & dates when the artist’s mother gave birth to both of her children, who were aged 3 and 1 in the year 1990.
