Six Readings on – Memory

11 - 18 March 2017

Curated and conceptualized by Kaiwan Mehta, and produced by TARQ, 'Six Readings On...'  is a series of six seminars, each consisting of six lectures by well-known artists and scholars from a range of disciplines. The series continues into its fourth chapter with a seminar on MEMORY.

For this chapter of the series the following research scholars will be conducting the readings - Nancy Adajania (cultural theorist, art critic and curator), Imran Ali Khan (scholar), Prof. Alka Hingorani, Vidya Kamat (artist) and Dr. Kaiwan Mehta (visual culture theorist and Managing Editor of DOMUS magazine).

As a special addition to the seminar, Ashish Rajadhyaksha, cultural theorist, and collaborator with artist Vivan Sundaram on the installation Meanings of Failed Action: Insurrection 1946 at the CSMVS, Mumbai (17 - 25 March, 2017) will walk the participants of the seminar through the installation on 18th March, 2017 at 6:00 pm. The installation includes a 40 minute sound-work by British artist David Chapman which will be on view at 6:00 pm, to be followed by the walk and discussion.

The seminar will be spread across Waswo X. Waswo's solo exhibition 'Photowallah' in collaboration with Tasveer. The art works from these shows will form the aesthetic backdrop to this session.
