His focus on documenting specific imagery to explore how history, memory, and meaning endure beneath the surface of complex linear drawings always weaves an interesting narrative. The imagery he captures is fragmented, appearing multiple times in a continuum, and certain imagery recurs often in his work, like a specific gat in Indian classical music. But, like a classical performer, he tries to explore various nuances in the same raag.
Across drawing, photography, and found objects, the image moves the way memory does: surfacing into clarity, slipping back into abstraction, returning altered. He has come to work in sequences, in slow accumulations. Each drawing is a fragment; the fragments gather into a continuum. Beneath the line, and inside a frame, he is following what endures: the quiet way history and meaning and memory settle in, by accretion rather than announcement.
