The “Izaare” series was made during the artist’s time at the Jaipur Centre for the Arts, this set of 9 drawings were developed as a common language between the Artist and the Aaraish (wet on wet lime plaster Fresco) Karigars (crafts-men). Drawing from existing Aaraish motif – the 'Izara' , is a common rectangular form which is used to make decorative and sometimes waist high skirtings of rooms. The drawings refers to Frank Stella's preparatory drawings as well as empty stage sets and emptied out miniature paintings that seem to await its protagonists.
