*Walking into Abstraction* is the next step in Vishwa Shroff's enquiry of rendering movement within drawing. Starting her observation at 13.75mts from the wall and stopping at intervals following the Fibonacci Number series, the drawings focus on the wall until she reaches 0.75mts and can walk no further. At this measurement, the wall disappears and what remains reassembles an abstracted image.
While this number pattern is credited to Leonardo Fibonacci (circa 1202), it was conceived by Pingala in 200BC while he was looking to enumerate possible patterns of Sanskrit Poetry from syllables of two lengths. Shroff finds this enormously interesting as the sonic element may then also be considered as a pattern of walking.
