'Half and half is Not Always Full', is a body of 'negative drawing' cut paper work by Samanta, which journeys through experiences in identity, location and belonging evidenced through the layering of antiquarian imagery, along with printed images of her own drawings. Post colonial identity formation is contextualized in this work, with references to descriptions of anatomical figures of the 'other', documentation of flora and fauna from colonised lands, and botanical drawings that are a consistent part of her practise. She has showcased a modern day lexicon of what understanding different and difference looked like in collective colonial legacy, through her handmade intervention of cutting, moulding, reshaping, and re-purposing.
