Samit Das’s work speaks about the juxtapositions of time and space. He creates multiple layers and remarkable forms using urban architecture as his points of reference and departure. His oeuvre comprises photographs, collages, paintings and drawings, at times combining multiple mediums in a single creation. He also builds interesting textures in his works, some tactile while others are only visual. The works focus on cities and urban space and speaks about the inevitable growth of cities. He is interested in how this growth and to what extent it takes place. He also believes that by creating our own space, we are making an effort to retain a level of sustainability for humans within the built habitat. Through his work, he highlights the history of cities, their juxtaposition of architecture, and their complex relationship to time.
