"The form of the Kotya fish bones return in this blue series looking at transformations within fishing culture and faith. Tandel draws on the heritage of his grandfather who worked as a boat maker in the early 20th century. Jackfruit wood that was used at that time has now been replaced with synthetic marine resin, the material used to create these suspended works. The unmistakable blue of the fishing boats is adorned with the names of gods and goddesses that are upon to protect the vessel when they are out at sea. Amongst Hingladevi, Teprekarin, and others, is Dharmatya, the god of the tides, ruling the liminal space between the beach and the ocean, worshipped in the Chendani Koliwada. By bringing attention to these disappearing names, Tandel throws light on the changing nature of faith practices brought on by Bhraminical and European colonisation. A propellor marks the tail of the blue bodies, narrating the shift towards mechanical modes of navigation. However, jammed by concrete, the path of progress levies a large cost on the coastal ecosystems it impacts. "
