The artist has been documenting during his research work in fishing villages in and around seven islands and oceanic tales, including readings from books and the internet. As a visual autoethnographer, Parag offers a reflection on memory, material, and the cultural continuities that persist through change. This series of bass relief works is about the Koliwada culture and their mundane tales, in the megalopolis of Mumbai. There are overlayed histories of the fisherfolk community of Mumbai, which are in constant flux. Yarning and Knotting is an act of story creation. The text refers to the Koli Dictionary Project underatken as part of Tandel Fund of Archives. The Koli Dictionary Project is a collection of words that are common to daily Koli parlance including Koli songs.
